  1. Graham..

  2. I am having a problem when using QRZ XML lookup in logger32. It seems that the callsign field is not cleared each time you click on a new DX spot and you wind up with several call signs connected together. I have tried this on a really old version of logger32 3.31 and it works fine. Running version 3.5 and the update that came later both have this issue. Any suggestions ? 73, K4MMX

  3. Hi Craig..
To me it sounds like you are your an old version of the of the QRZXMLLookup. That software has been replaced by the program at the top of this thread called L32Lookups. Download the full install first and install it and then download the update and unzip that into the directory where you installed the lookup to. You will also need to point to the new lookup in the Logger32 internet lookup window. All of that is explained in the included pdf file. Install that program and update it and then let me know how you have made out.

  4. Hi Rick,
I want to say THANKS ! It worked ! I thought that I needed to run the XML version since that was the service I was using. I did not realize that the updated version of L32Lookups did that as well. I did everything you said, and now its perfect ! Thanks for all your hard work.

  5. Hallo Rick, the MAP is ok. In the windows View DX, IOTA Spots and DX Spots the red point for my qth is ok. But in the grayline window this point is anywhere in Kazakhstan. Do you have an explanation?
    73 and merry Xmas

  6. Are you using the default map for the grayline window? Each window has its won map if you have used a customized map it might not be centered where it should be. If that happens then all of the locations will be off.

  7. Hi Rick
Just did a new full install of L32 on an XP Machine and everything is working fine except when using L32Lookups I get an unhandled exception error with the following details (see paste below).

I have tried uninstalling and then using CCleaner to remove any orphan Registry items (usually a couple) before re-installing, but still get the pop-up error message after first use.

I think I need to delete traces in the registry still, but not sure how to go about it.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks Jeff VE3CV

  8. Hi Jeff..
hmm I’ll have to do some digging and see why the Registry setting can’t be set with XP. Give me some time as I am swamped in both N1MM code and other projects I’m working on at the moment.. I will post an update when I get it figured out..

  9. Hi Rick,

I just installed L32Lookups in my Logger32 directory and went to Setup Internet callsign lookup and setup C:\Logger32\L32Lookups.exe and click start.

When I do the callsign lookup, QRX – doing Internet lookup appears in the Name . What have I not done?

    73 Don W4BBT

  10. I was getting that same response Don. I just now did a new reinstall gave myself admin rights to everything and now when I do a look up, the web page opens, it auto logs me in, it looks up the call sign, great!! but the little screen will not populate. It says, “yes master, I searching” strange!!

  11. Up Date, the admin rights for the Logger32 folder did not stay applied. I went back through all of the folders involved and made sure I had admin rights to those folders. Everything works just as it is suppose to. Sorry for the above knee jerk comment. Bob

  12. Now I am getting the little screen not populated and it says “Yes master, I’m looking … I checked advanced properties for the Logger32.exe shortcut and it has the Run as Administrator box checked. Here is the path C:\Logger32\L32Lookups.exe L32Lookups.ini is also in the C:\Logger32 folder. Don

  13. I moved the new L32Lookups.exe file (dated Aug. 3, 2017) to C:\Logger32 folder and it is NOW WORKING. Thanks for your help. Don

  14. I just set L32looks up on Window 10. Is QRZ page suppose to come up at the same time as the lookup wimdow. Is there a way not to have it load up an just have the lookup window onlu

  15. The QRZ window does open unless the user minimizes the window while it is open..
When the window is displaying the last call you looked up just minimize the window. From then on until you open the window it will open minimized each time it is loaded.

  16. Hi Rick. ZS6RF , Leon here. My Logger is working 100% since the new reload. I had my friend, ZS6BAF’s Swisslog for Dos database converted to .ADIF and installed logger 32, did the latest upgrade and I can not get the Lookup to work. When I open Logger and Click on the QRZ lookuo icon in Logger32 toolbar, it changes from blue to transparent and does not open the box. I can not access it to setup QRZLookup. So I can’t put in the type of lookup and the password. Also, I can’t click on Toolbox to type in the URL for QRZLookuup.exe as there is no box! . But when I type in the callsign. the magnifying glass appears and I can ope QRZ!

  17. Hi.

I’ve done everything I had to but when I open Logger32 and press on the QRZ Lookup blue icon on Logger to set up the toolbox, the blue icon disappears and nothing happens!

  18. Andreas..
It sounds like the lookup window has been hidden off the screen..
In Logger32 Click on the View top menu and then select Find Lost Windows.
You should be able to find the window that way. You are looking for the Internet Lookup Window

    73 Rick N2AMG

  19. Hi Leon..
Sorry for not answering sooner been busy..
As I said to Andreas above it sounds like the Internet Lookup Window is hidden off the screen. You need to use the same as I described above. When you do a lookup and the lookup opens you can click on setup and set the lookup type and password from there. Or you can open the lookup directly and open the lookup that way to set it up.

Also one other important thing is if you are still using QRZLookup.exe you are using a very outdated program. About a year ago I stopped working on that lookup application. The new program available on my website is now called L32Lookups.exe. The QRZLookup.exe no longer works on some of the Windows 10 flavors as the controls I used are no longer supported.

    73 Rick N2AMG

  20. Hi Peter.
Thanks so much. I feel like such a fool. I know all about lost windows, but never associated it with QRZLookup! I didn’t realize that the lookup was included in the Lost windows. Everything working fine. Thanks a lot

  21. Got this up and running but, it doesn’t populate/put the info into logger32. Is this normal or did I do something wrong as usual?

  22. Recently started getting Microsoft.NET Framework errors upon XML lookup of a callsign entry. Using atest Logger 32 3.50.366 and Windows 10.

“Conversion from string “08/13/18 14:32.53″ to type ‘Date’ is not valid.”

Let me know if you need the full debug info.

    73 Gary K2GW

  23. Gary..
In the directory where the lookup is installed there should be a file called L32LookupsDebugLog.txt please attach that file to an email and send it to
This way I hopefully can see where this is taking place..

    73 Rick n2AMG

  24. Rick:

I sent you the file last week but may have solved it.

I don’t think your code likes it if someone sets there Windows system date format to that other of the default. Mine was at DD-MMM-YY instead of the default MM/DD/YYYY Changing it back tot he default may have fixed it.

  25. Hello Rick, Thanks for nice program, but I have an issue with displaying the QRZ page in the internal viewer. When the callsign is typed into Logger32 the L32Lookups starts work and the data are transferred OK. Also the browser window pops out and shows particular QRZ web page. The isse is that the browser shows the page somehow scrolled in the midle and I always have to scroll up to see upper part of the page with name, address and photos..(rather that commercial advertising on the bottom of the QRZ page). I’m using latest version. This openning “in the midle of the QRZ page” instead on the top is annoying… Could you advice please?

  26. Stepan..
When the scrolling takes place it should be scrolling to place the callsign information within the browser window.
I have just tested this to make sure it is working properly and it is on my system. Possibly a setting in your Internet options or settings in Internet Explorer has changed and is causing this I’m not sure.

    73 Rick N2AMG

  27. Hi Rick,
thanks for very prompt reply. Not sure If I undestand well, but seems to me, that the QRZ page opened from the Logger32 (L32Lookups) is some strange web explorer and not IE 11 installed on my Win10 PC. My default web browser is Mozzila Firefox followed by IE 11 as backup. The window what pops out from the Logger32 looks different and I thought this is some internal L32Looksup browser.. There is only button “Setup” where “QRZ HTTP or QRZ XML” can be choosen and there is one mysterious button “Butt” which brings me always to K1TTT page (really don’t know what is the purpose..) Not sure if you can understand from my description 🙂 I can share screen by email if you have time for me. Thaks OK1CSS Stepan

  28. The web browser that is in the program is a built-in control in Visual Studio that is based off Internet Explorer. If you make settings changes in the Main Internet Explorer they will effect the way the control in the web browser in the program works. The Butt button is a mistake on my part. I use it as a test button but when I built the last version I had left the button visible instead of hidden. So for now until I have a reason to make a new build the butt will be visible. I know what it is doing I had a user a couple of months ago indicate the same issue. I’m not sure what he did to fix it but he emailed me a couple of days later and said everything was working ok again. What is supposed to happen is when the look up is complete the browser scrolls to a defined div statement in the web pages source code which puts the call information right at the top of the programs browser window. I am not certain why it is not finding that div statement on your system. I looked at the sourcecode of the QRZ website and the it doesn’t look like anything has changed there.

  29. Like others have reported, under some circumstance in the lookup web browser window the last call is not deleted and the new call is appended to it so you may see it trying to find a call like G3UIDKW7Y. It seems to happen if you have not tried a look up for “some time”. If its relevant default browser is Firefox.

    Paul KW7Y

  30. Hi Paul.
There is an issue with Logger32 that is causing this problem. It will be fixed in the next update to Logger32.

    73 Rick N2AMG

  31. Hi Rick,

I currently have a problem with the look up nothing has changed as far as im aware, running the latest versos of both your program and loggger32.

what it does is try’s to look but it fails a pop up appears QRZlookup.exe is an interface between logger32 and for importing call signs lookup data. has stopped, with close program on it.

    any ideas?

  32. Hi Andy..
If the name of the program is QRZLookup.exe then you are running a very old version of the program. That program became obsolete shortly after Windows 10 came out because some of the controls that were used in that program no longer worked with Windows 10. Go to the Home page and click on the link called L32Lookups. you will need to download the Full Installer and the update located directly below it. Install the full installer first and then unzip the Update into the same directory where the full installer was installed to. The first time it runs it should ask you for the type of lookup you want to use and for your username and password.

    Thanks Rick,

I’m running logger32 lookup, in the program folder on C: L32lookups.exe is file version 1.0.012

  34. Rick,

Just deleted it and re-installed and its working, so must of been a glitch.

now is there a way to stop the pop up with the bio, pic etc, and it only populates L32 little window?

    thanks Andy M0NKR

  35. When the window is open click on the minimize button. Once you do that it should not be visible any more. It should open minimized the next time it is called upon and from there out.

  36. Having a bit of trouble. Think I selected Http instead of the XML when I entered my userid and password. Can’t find the screen to enter userid and password and select the XML

    Can you help here?

  37. Open the window a little bit wider and on the right hand top side you should see the word Setup. Select that then choose Setup again and it will open the window you use to change from one lookup type to another.

    73 Rick N2AMG

  38. Hey Rick,

Well having some problem with the double calls that will occasionally populate the lookup and then it will error. Have the latest upgrade to Logger32.

Sometimes can shutdown Logger32 and restart and it will work, but have not been able to determine what is causing the double calls.

    Any help here?

  39. In a day or so there will be an auto-update for Logger32.(It went out to beta testers yesterday to make sure everything is ok.) There is a fix in Logger32 that should correct this issue. I have tried the update and I do not see double calls on my system. Let me knw after the update of Logger32 is you still have this problem and we will go from there..

  40. I’ve installed L32Lookups in the L32Lookups directory. I hit the glode icon the callsigh lookup prompt shows up, I enter any call sign, “QRX-doing internet lookup,”
But nothing ever is looked up, just sits idle till my close it. I subscribe to QRZ and pay for XML. What am I doing wrong? Gary, W7DO

  41. Hi Gary..
Have you followed the below instructions??

    Installing L32Lookups
    1. Place this file in any directory that the user wants.
    2. In Logger32 click on the Internet Lookup window toolbar icon (7th from right)
    3. When the Internet Lookup Window opens click the menu that says Toolbox
    4. Next select the menu choice Setup External Module.
    5. A Window will open up that will allow you to enter the name of the lookup and the location where it is located.
Clicking the browse button will open a windows dialog allowing you to locate where you have placed L32Lookups.exe
    6 Click the start button.

Now when you click on a callsign in Logger32 the L32Lookup application will load and do a callsign lookup for the call in the L32 entry window.
The first time L32Lookups opens up you will be asked to select the lookup type you want to use and provide your username and password for
the lookup service you are using.

Let me know if after following these if it does not work correctly..
    73 Rick N2AMG

  42. Did every step several times, after start button, I clicked on 5X3C Uganda, at 7143 KHz on DX Spots………Call Sign filled in, Uganda, Azimuth……….nothing else.
JA7SFD 7009 KHz, …….call sign filled in, rig goes to freq……….nothing else.
Sorry, I’ve loaded and tried this many times………just won’t work for me. I can take screen shots if that helps?

    Gary, W7DO
