QRZLookup.exe is an application that is used for doing QRZ.com look-ups in Logger32.

This is a combination of the QRZHTTPLookup.exe and the QTZXMLLookup.exe applications.
This was done for a number of reason the main one for ease of use and installation for the users.

This application will now download and update the application whenever there is an update available as soon as the user gives permission.
The look up routines have been reworked and are much faster especially for the HTTP look up.

I am using a new installer that has eliminated the install issues that were happening with the old one.

  1. Latest version of QRZlookup (with new L32 release 3.43) still doesn’t get the QSL_VIA field from qrz.com . I also noticed that GRID SQUARE field comes mixed with html codes… Someone noticed the same “bugs”?
Thank you for your hard work, 73

  2. Everything works (qsl_via, grid, and other)
    Thank You very much! 73!

  3. I have just posted a new build on my website.
    This build does 2 things
    a. Corrects the issues of the update not functioning because of error’s b. Corrects a couple more values that QRZ changed and I didn’t see the layout change.

You will get prompted to download the update but you will still receive the error message as the error’s will be in the file you presently have.

I would go to my site and download the file at this link:
    http://www.n2amg.com/files/QRZLookupFullInstall.exe

Most of the error’s reported were because Windows was having an issue with the unzip dll file. This has now been corrected and no longer uses the unzip dll file that is in the lookup’s directory

  4. Rick, I totally uninstalled 1.1.26 and installed fresh 1.1.27 . Grid square with html codes solved, but I noticed that QSL_VIA field going ok only if in QRZLookup.ini “HTTPWindowState=” is set to “0″. When set to “1″ (and then window will iconized) qsl_via comes empty. Not a big problem, but just a precise report to you ;-)

  7. I just spent hours trying to figure out why QRZ Lookup wouldn’t work with L32. I finally got it working fine. One week later I get a message saying there is a new version available. It hangs up on trying to install – something to do with the path not found. Do I have to start all over again? I hate computers!

  8. I have tried to get QRZ Lookup working but to no avail. I have followed the instructions however when I start the program for the first time I do not get the sign up to the QRZ screen. All I get is “QRX looking up internet…..”. Does someone have the info to set the config file for the program to get it running. (VE6TL… what did you do to finally get it running) I am using Windows XP and am obviously doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  9. Just downloaded the new 3.43.0 Logger and then your new lookup program. Installed fine, followed all the directions but won’t take my call and pass word. It lets me put it in but when I click OK nothing happens. Also to get it to do anything I have to hit the call sign Lookup button to get the screen to come up but won’t do anything cause won’t take my sign in and pass word. So what am I doing wrong? I’ve used it with other versions of logger and it worked fine. Ok sorry not very computer savy.

    Tnx,

  10. Hi Rick,

I just can’t get the new version to install on my W7-64 machine. No problem on my 2 XP machines.

I’ve uninstalled QRZlookup and removed all instances of the file name from my machine. I do a clean install (many times) and set up as in the readme. I input a call and do a CTRL I and L32 goea busy. A click anywhere in L32 causes a greyout and Close click gives me a message box saying L32 not reponding and force a close.

    Any clues.

  11. By the way, The old versions on QRZ Lookup worked fine on this W7 machine.

  12. Hi Rick,
Stilll having lots of problems with QRZ Lookup. To see it I have to click on the internet call sign look up button. Then the extended info box is so small I can’t see QSL via or any of the things at bottom. Can I put the old one back in as it worked fine.

    Tnx,
    Ron N7RD

  13. Hi All
In HTML lookup calls with back slash are not found anymore.
f.e. FS/K9NB should give page K9NB but gives “FS” not found .
It works when I go to qrz.com via browser.
Does anyone has the same problem ?

  14. Hi
    Problem with back slash solved.
After update logger32 it worked again… strange..
Thank You Rick for advise and Your good work on qrzlookup !

  15. Dear Nick,

I’m finding that with QRZ Lookup 1.1.27 it’s been taking about 20 seconds to look up a callsign in both 3.43 and now 3.43.11 versions of Logger32. Previously it was nearly instantaneous. Am I doing something wrong? Also lookup used to be initiated if I clicked almost anywhere outside the logbook entry window but now lookup is only started by clicking on the “globe” Internet callsign lookup icon or tabbing out of the Call box in the logbook entry window. Windows 7 Professional 32bit.

  16. Dear Rick,

Many thanks for your email. In view of what you said I uninstalled QRZlookup
again plus lingering files. This time I spotted a QRZlookup configuration
file in the Logger32 directory that I hadn’t noticed before which I deleted.
Also cleaned out the W7 registry. On reinstallation every works fine! I
guess I should have tried doing this before troubling you so my apologies.

Many thanks for your good work on this program.

  17. Suddenly, after working fine for months, When I enter the call in the entry window and press “Tab” QRZ opens and all the info is there but then Logger just shuts down and leaves only QRZ on the monitor! However, it only does it with USA stations! All other callsigns work 100% Any explination???

  18. Sorry, Caps lock was on

  19. Hi Rick, I saw a reply you left on the forum about the qrz look up update, where you’ve stated ”the update is located directly below the link for the full version” Has this update link been re-sited as all I could see was as copied & pasted below. As I have a problem with the call signs not clearing elsewhere you’ve said to download update not full install of the qrz look up. Please could I ask for some help where to find this update to ver 1.1.21.
Thank you in advance, Richard de 5B4AJG.

  22. QRZ Lookup stopped working suddenly ….it got bored.
I uninstalled the old program and associated files (ini) and installed the latest version.
But not working…it did not ask for my callsign and password for XML Subscriber on first use.
Tried editing the ini file with callsign and password but still a no go.
    What am I missing?

  23. Hi Rick,

I’m with Gerry (VE6LB) on the QRZ lookup working fine on both my XP machines and not on my Win7 machine. The old version worked fine for me too on Win7 machine. Just wondering if there is button to click, so that QRZ Lookup will NOT check for updates? I have it working on 2 of 3 machines and when I get it working with Win7 I do NOT want to have it (QRZ Lookup) checking for updates. I will do my own update if/when the program no longer works for me……
    Thanks,

  24. Hi Rick,
I finally got QRZLookup.exe working in my Logger32 after a couple of days of losing hair and my Teamviewer session with you. I found it all worked after installing Logger32 from scratch, but since I didn’t want to redo all my custom settings I copied my old Logger32.ini file into Logger32. As soon as I did this QRZLookup stopped working. Though it looks like QRZLookup.exe was the last program selected to be used, there was still something with XMLSubscriber in there. I deleted every thing regarding QRZ in the ini file and bingo! After doing the first time use setup by selecting QRZLookup from C:\QRZLookup directory, every worked fine and no other setup changes were required. Great. Now to get my RTTY FSK working right. Thanks for your help and a great program.

  25. I installed latest version QRZLookup in my newer Win7-64 machine in the house shack last week and it worked fine first time. This was the first time install. Everything (Logger32, QRXLookup, N1MM were installed in the C:\HAM directory.

  26. QRZlookup work fine on the 32 bits windows8 machine, it does not on the win7- 64 bits machine.
The first search is ok, but then the search field does not get cleared and consequently the calls are not recognized
    eg.
    1st call: N2AMG answer ok
    2nd call F6DXE answer = N2AMGF6DXE not found
and this is the same for every new callsign check, it just keep adding to the search string.
I removed completely Logger32 and QRZLookup, then did a clean install of both, no luck.

  27. Every time I use logger32 on this machine, I receive a message telling me that an update is available.
A click on the proposed link brings me to a 404 page (not found).

  28. I’m running the version of QRZ Lookup downloaded from this page a few weeks ago, but every time I look up a call I get a pop-up saying a newer version is available. If so, where is it? Lookup itself is working fine, it’s just these annoying little popups that get to me. Am I missing something?

  29. Noticed the lookup wasn’t working with L32, but also saw there was an update. Did the update and it said it successfully installed. But still no lookups, even after exiting L32 and going back in.

  30. RICK, I CHANGED MY PASS WORD ON QRZ NOW I CANNOT GET LOGGER TO LOOK UP CALLS. I GET A MESSAGE MY PASSWORD NO GOOD. HOW DO I GET IT CHANGED IN YOUR PROGRAM

  31. Hi there,

    I’ve installed the N2AGM QRZ look-up with the 3.45.38 version of Logger32.

It works on the first call, but after the old call is not cleared and is
appended with the new call, and so QRZ cannot find the right data.

    Did you experience something similar?

Last info, if I reboot Logger32 it works again for the first call… but not for
    the second.

I could not find if the fault is in the look-up or in Logger.
INI file of N2AGM soft gives no clue about that!

    Thanks for any help.

  32. I am trying to install the Logger32 app. I am using the old instructions from a previous install before a disk crash. I did not set a password for administrator and the install will not let me do the install either as admin or otherwise. I am getting very frustrated wtih this. Also, on your website it says to read the instruction file first and that takes me to a bunch of links which I don’t know what to do with. Right now it seems I must give up Logger32 and QRZ.com and find another way to log contacts. Man, why is it always a battle to do anything!?
    Thanks! Lee de K5AVY
